Which horror Icon is your favorite.
Boris Karloff as Frankenstein.

Bela Lugosi as Dracula.

great answers everyone, I agree with Bela, he never got the recognition he deserved at the time.

If you count the original silent version of "Nosferatu" as a Dracula film (an international court ruled "Nosferatu" was an illegal adaption of Stoker’s play "Dracula," so I would count it as such), a good case could be made that Count Dracula is the oldest surviving cinematic icon still being featured in new movies representing the horror genre (a similiar case could be made for Frankenstein’s Monster). My question to whoever cares to respond is "Would you agree that Dracula is logically the best known and greatest horror movie villain?" If you don’t agree, I would like to know who you would name as the best known and greatest horror icon.
I don’t really care if you agree with me or not, but I would like to know why you feel as you do on the subject so answers stating the why as well as the what are more like to be picked as the best. Good spelling and grammar are appreciated but not required.
