I like the romantic aspect of it, actually. It touches my heart to know how much Godalming, Morris, and Seward cared about Lucy! That has got to be love!

My copy of Dracula has end notes that I usually choose to ignore because they interrupt the flow of the writing. A little while ago I chose to reread it and read the end notes and they are the cause of some confusion. The notes keep calling Dracula and Jonathan Harker doppelgangers or doubles of each other, but I don’t get it. The bit with the wafer scars given by Jonathan to Dracula and Dracula to Mina I understand a little bit, but the rest has me so confused.
How do these two characters parallel each other?
Also, I promise this isn’t some homework assignment. I love the book and I just want to understand it better.

I’ve heard that Count Dracula was Romania’s national hero in the 15th C, when they fought the Turkish army.
But he is better known to foreigners as a vampire in Hollywood horror films.
What do Romanians think of that?
